New trucking company leads for truck and trailer dealers

The cargo boxes a new carrier checks at registration point to the equipment it runs: refrigerated food usually means reefers, building materials and machinery usually mean flatbeds and step-decks. The census file gives you that, with fleet size and contacts.

Counts refreshed October 29, 2026 from the live file.

How truck and trailer dealers use the file

Sort by cargo

Filter on one cargo type at a time and send the list to the salesperson who stocks that trailer.

Map to your lot

Filter by state and city, then sort by ZIP from the physical address so the list matches your territory.

Revisit small fleets

Carriers that reported one or two power units today may add equipment as they grow. Pull them again in six months.

A worked example

  1. Type one cargo type into Cargo contains, for example refrigerated, building materials or livestock, so each list matches one kind of trailer.
  2. Pick your state, then type the nearest city into City contains to keep the list inside your territory.
  3. Set Power units to 1 or 2-5. 122,643 carriers in the file report one power unit or none and 46,926 report two to five; both groups add equipment as they grow.
  4. Choose Registered in the last 90 days (39,891 carriers before the other filters) and download.
  5. Sort the CSV by ZIP from the physical address, and give each salesperson the rows closest to the lot.

The first message

Mail and email fit equipment sales: a postcard with the trailer types you stock and your financing partners, followed by an email with current inventory, reaches the owner without interrupting a drive. Call after the scrub, and ask about the loads they plan to haul before you recommend equipment.

What the file does not tell you

The census file does not list a carrier's equipment, model years or financing. Cargo boxes describe what the carrier said it would haul.

Compliance

Dealers calling owner-operators reach personal mobiles more often than not. Scrub against the Do Not Call Registry, call by hand, and use mail or email for the first touch where you can. Public records are not consent to be called. This is not legal advice. Terms of use.

Yes. The cargo filter matches any cargo box the carrier checked, such as refrigerated food, livestock or building materials.
Does the file show the trucks a carrier owns?
It shows the number of power units the carrier reported, not makes, models or ages.
