Chicago's licence file separates hotels of seven or more sleeping rooms, owner-occupied bed and breakfasts of up to eleven rooms, and small vacation rental buildings of two to four units. That gives 393 active licences, each naming the legal holder and the trade name.

How Illinois licenses lodging
The class tells you a good deal before you pick up the phone. A bed and breakfast licence means an owner who lives on site, and a vacation rental licence means a building of two to four units.
Single-unit home sharing runs through a different city register, and we count those records with rentals.

What the Illinois file leaves out
This is Chicago only, with no phone or email. The date on each row is the licence issue date, which moves when a licence renews, so it does not show when a business opened.
Our copy starts on 2026-11-04. Since a renewal resets the issue date, use the first-seen column to find licences that are really new.
