New York hotel and motel leads
New York gives you names rather than numbers. The state health department names the permitted operator of each hotel, motel and cabin colony outside New York City, and the city's tax roll names the owner of record of each hotel building inside it. Together that is 4,252 properties, with no phone or email on any of them.
Counts refreshed 2026-11-04. Issuing agency: New York State Department of Health and the NYC Department of Finance.

How New York licenses lodging
The state calls these temporary residences, and its health department and county offices permit and inspect them. The file covers active facilities and leaves out New York City, which runs its own system.
For the city we read the Department of Finance roll and keep the hotel building classes, leaving out hotel-condo units. An owner of record is often an LLC formed for one building, so that row may need a look at the deed before you know who to write to.

What the New York file leaves out

Working the New York list
Catskills, Adirondacks and Lake George
Upstate resort towns hold long lists of small motels and cabin colonies, the operators most likely to answer their own mail.
Mailing a named operator
A letter addressed to a person by name reads better than one to the general manager. The state file gives you the name.
New York questions
Does this include New York City?
Yes, but from a different record: the city's tax roll shows who owns the building, not who runs the hotel.
Are there phone numbers?
No. Neither source publishes one.
